IN PROGRESS: Pacific Street House
Full gut renovation and enlargement of an 1880s 2-family, detached house in the Crown Heights North Historic District. The project includes converting the attic and basement into usable space, restoring the exterior, adding three roof decks and fully reconfiguring the interior spaces. In order to preserve the historic character of the building, the front of the attic was designed to retain its pyramid-shaped roof and the rear was built up to accommodate full-height rooms. Under the pyramid roof will be a dramatic double-height space with a suspended, loft-like den overlooking it. Due to the scope and visibility of the work, a public hearing with the NYC Landmarks Commission was required to obtain the necessary approvals.
